Athens B
Athens B consists of three projects that accompany the
hand drawn city map Athens A. Firstly, it involves a scientific research project that examines the connection between local politics and private investments, using the desired Formula 1 racetracks in Piraeus as an example. Private interests and public obligations also compete in the architectural debate over a museum and a theme park, both of which include the term "Acropolis" in their names. Finally, the study from the University of Aarhus (Denmark) offers an affordable facade adjustment of Athens to its ancient model - as perceived by the stereotypical view of tourists - in order to "elevate" it to an ideal city.
Athens is the well-known regional capital of Attica and has approximate 48,000 inhabitants. It is a self-sufficient city that, like many provincial towns in Greece, is suffocating under its problems, unable to find decisive solutions with determination and vision due to petty politics.
A city that has long shed the glory of its history, even though it still lives off it. Athens, a city in the shadow of the decision-makers of Corinth, the capital and seat of the Greek government since 1830.
