On the Sagacious Art of Building in the Manner of Beasts
Genre: Drawings series
Material: mostly watercolor on paper
Dimensions: Different
Production: 2025
At first glance, this series of colourful watercolours adopts
the visual language of classical architectural drawings – with precise lines, spatial depth, and an atmosphere of promise. Yet what is depicted are animal-like forms, sometimes naturalistic, sometimes more freely interpreted. The figures commonly found in such drawings do not play their usual passive, decorative role. Instead, they are active, in motion, engaged in actions that remain enigmatic. Their presence shifts the viewer’s focus: not toward what is yet to be built, but toward what has happened – or rather, what
is seen as something that might have happened. This creates a tension between apparent design and indeterminate action, between the expected and the unresolved. What is explored here is not so much physical construction as a mental consolidation: an engagement with images as modes of thought, with architecture as idea – not as finished object.
